A message from Essex County Council Highways.
Preparations have been made to carry out essential resurfacing on the A1017 at Sturmer from 20th April to 2nd May. To complete this safely, the road will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am while crews plane the old surface, adjust manholes and gullies, lay a new road surface and reline the road.
Appropriate diversions will be signposted, as no through‑traffic will be permitted to pass into the working area.
The activities will be delivered in three phases, starting on Rowley Hill (A143/A1017 roundabout) and working in an easterly direction:
Our on‑site team will be available to support residents as needed. Resident access will be maintained throughout, but depending on the work taking place, residents may need to use the diversion route to approach from the safest access point.
A clearway (no‑parking) zone will be in place to help crews work safely, so we advise the public to avoid parking in these areas.
Information is being shared on our social media channels, with details also available on One.Network.
